GM auto tranny

Well, it is true as some have posted that the "good" GM auto trannys like
the Turbo 350 and 400 are probably suitable for cars like BMWs.  Two points
though:  1) Most US GM cars aren't getting these good units (like on the
couple of GM cars I owned in the 80s) and 2) I have a 95 M3 with a the 5 speed
auto (please, no flames about how I should be shot for not having the stick)
and it is the best auto tranny I have ever had.  The smooth shifting issue
is not really the deciding factor, but it is an excellent setup for a
performance car.  I can't comment on longevity and long term reliability
yet, but it is a good tranny.  Hopefully, the 4 door M3 will continue
to use this 5 speed auto.
