NEW1996 BMW 318,325,528 uses General motors THM r1 automatic trans

Any remarks regarding :

1996 BMW specifications indicates that the 318,328,528 
(and probably the M3 mit der luxury package ) 
use a General Motors  automatic transmission  
model # THM r1(Turbo Hydra Matic  r1)?  

The ZF 5  auto is only used  on the v8s. 

Just thought the membership should know........... and now back to our usual 
ZYMOL and  "Real BMW" programming.
