I have a 4HP22 tranny in my 90 5er with 101k miles and have not had a problem
with it.  I know there are a number of others on the list with the same tranny. 
The only problem I know about is the clutch pack wearing out with normal use 
(normal in any tranny).  I also know (from my mechanic) that the clutch pack can
be replaced for around (if I remember correctly) $400.  Just another data
