digest v5#51 Engine Swapping

Putting the 635 engine, and maybe tranny, into a 528i is a reasonably easy
swap, and will fit just fine, except that the 635 is Motronic. Your choice
is to use the 528i cam, front engine cover, & distributor to go with the
car's electrics, or to completely revise 528i to a Motronic configuration.
This is too complicated to be suggested.

The late transmission speedometer drive poses complications - it has no
drive. The 635 speedo is driven electronically from the differential.
Various earlier 5-speed transmissions, with drives, will interchange.
