Odometer adjustment

I have seen a lot of talk about odometer adjustments: can it be done, can it be
detectable, etc. A while back, out of curiosity (being a computer scientist I
was sure it could be done), I made a few inquiries, and finally got an e-mail
back from a company in Germany (I am witholding the name and contact info
because I do not think this should be done, so please do not bother to e-mail
me personally to have them because I will not send them out). I think it makes
for interesting reading, and I think all BMW enthusiasts out there should be
aware of what is possible and the potential hazards in judging a car's mileage
only by the odometer. I am in NO WAY ENDORSING THIS PRACTICE, so please no
flames; I simply think the digest ought to know.

Our company, [name witheld], was actually founded about 10 years ago,
first in our minds only, when BMW started out with the digital odometers in
1986/ E 32. We thought it might be a nice idea, to develop a fully software
controlled program in order to be able to adjust the mileage on BMW's - up or
down, whatever we wanted to have, and not to adjust only the miles shown on the
display, also to adjust the miles in the specific memory modules of the car as
well.

In order to make a long story short, we made the [name witheld] become
reality, not only because of the fact that it is legal to have your mileage
clock adjusted here in Germany, also for our own pleasure, because don't ask me
why, but the cars seem to run much much better with less miles on the clock. Of
course there is no technical background for that - it is in the drivers mind
itself - psychologically. Never the less, it makes just more fun to drive with
an almost brand-new" car, that's for sure.

After many years of development, investment and sleepless nights as well, we
are now able to adjust the mileage clock of any BMW. Of course we are
specialist for digital stuff - E31/ E32 / E34 / E36 / E38 / E39, but in order
to complete our service, we also adjust the mechanical or semi-mechanical
clocks of all other models as well.

We also have all Mercedes-Benz, every Volkswagen model and all Audi's in our
program - digital and me-chanical ones.

By the way, our work is not detectable, by nobody - even not by the
manufactures/ manufactory itself and believe me, we ourselves and our satisfied
customers from all over Europe, gave them already a couple of tries. And of
course, we give a warranty on our work.

Maybe a last comment, those components we are working on, are not produced by
the car manufactures themselves, they are produced by VDO, MOTORMETER, TRW and
so on. What I am trying to say is, that the car manufactures or dealers, are
not able to adjust those digital clocks themselves.

Let's start out - 100% discretion and 100% satisfaction guaranteed

All we need in order to be able to adjust the mileage of your car, is your
cockpit instrument. The cockpit instrument, or also called control unit, or
control panel, is right behind your steering wheel. It's the big module
including odometer, thermometer, rpm, fuel level, etc.

In order to take it out, just follow these steps - it's real simple - 5 Minutes
