A couple of weeks ago, I lost my stock ansa exhaust to winter corrosion. I
replaced it with a free flow muffler and at the same time had the shop
remove the resonator and installed a straight tube in its place.
These results were much less satisfying in the seat of the pants test -
it must have changed the torque curve substantially.
However, boy does the little eta sing as it pulls extremely smoothly to
5000 rpm. In fact, it feels quite happy at the moderate rpm levels of 3500
- - 4000 rpm, where the stock exhaust combo was very pleased at 2000 to 3000
rpm and not too comfortable above that level. I guess there is always
trade offs with any modification, I lost low end stump pulling for mid
range sweet singing and breath.
If any other eta drivers can share their modification experiences, please do.
My $.02.
