Most likely incorrect. Pioneer and Alpine have made them for years and I
don't think that has changed. According to BMW: "The new Alpine unit adds
a weather band....." and then "new optional Harmon-Kardon audio system
utilizes standard in-dash unit, but upgrades the entire amplification and
speaker system and adds several sophisticated, audiophile-quality
features". Used to be the big cars 5,7,8 got the Pioneers for
compatibility with the BMW phone features. FWIW
