E36 M3 aftermarket exhaust - Borla?
I'm attempting to gather information on a controversy and thus make an
intelligent decision... I have a '95 M3 that currently has the standard
exhaust installed. I also have the Borla M3 exhaust sitting in a box.
I have seen conflicting reports that the Borla "makes more power down
low but less power at the top end", that it "make more power across the
band", and that "it makes about the same power as the stock exhaust
across the band". Clearly these can't all be right. I'd like to hear
from any and all that are knowledgable on this subject so that I can
decide whether or not to install the Borla. I'm also curious if,
perhaps, the report of less power at the top end was due to the ECU
epprom not being optimized for the Borla and was not a fault of the
Borla itself (it seems to me that any good exhaust system will require a
prom chage to gain the advantage of it). Thanks!
