96 328is OIL CHANGE
The Bmw oil filter cartridge part# 11 42 1 427 908 comes with the large
canister cover O-ring & seal for the pan drain plug. It does not come with
the canister cover shaft O-rings (2). Part # for these rings is 11 42 1 744
001 with a suggested retail of $0.50 each. The BMW repair fiche & the Haynes
manual recommend changing these. They also recommend using a socket on the
36mm canister cover nut. You can purchase one from Steve D' Gerolamo
(steved3@domain.elided) which consists of a Falcom 3/4" drive socket & 3/4
to 1/2 adaptor for $25.00 complete. If you prefer, you can purchase from
Snap-On (1-800-879-3322) a 1/2 in drive impact socket, part# IMM360 for
$26.25.
