320i Charge Light & No Lefties

I hava a '78 320i with 140K.  Last week I replaced the voltage
regualtor/brushes.  The alternator is now charging at 13 volts, the Haynes
manual says that I should be getting between 13.6 & 14.5 volts.  My charge
light stays very dim, but never goes out completely.  Is this normal?

Two weeks ago I started experiencing a problem with my car dying when I make
left turns at between 1500 & 2200 RPM.  I have looked for anything obvious,
but nothing appears to be wrong.  This one
really has me stumped.

Please help!
