E36 M3 paint

There's a new M3 in town.  I ran into the owner down at the local auto parts
store and talked with him about it; it's the dealer's demo model, the same one
I drove.  He said something interesting about the paint:  his has the same
markings on it that many of you E36 owners seem to have, and when he 
tried polishing them out he found orange paint residue on the rag.
Isn't this car clearcoated?
