Someone asked if the 5-speed had a different speedo cable drive ratio
than their old 4-speed:
The nice thing is that you DON'T have to worry about the transmission
output. The speedo cable turns at the same ratio compared to the
driveshaft as in the original transmission.
The ratios in the 320i 5-speed are approximately the same
as the 4-speed:
3.78/2.02/1.33/1.00/0.81 give or take.
In top gear with the 3.90 you get 3000rpm=~70. Perfect for a four,
I think. 4.11 is nice for a high-strung motor, 3.64 for a stroker or turbo.
Someone said their dealer said their 16" wheels killed their E36 wheel
bearings:
BULL. Drive on those pretty new wheels.
