On my '83 528, I developed a similar problem but it was a distinct
vibration at 25-30 mph - classic center support bearing, which was bad.
Replaced it - better but still a shudder at 25-30 mph. U-joint replace-
ment took care of the problem. Had to send it off to Atlanta since
you cannot just replace the u-joints. They are welded on. It cost
me $300 including shipping. The car was down for 3 days, 1 to ship it
there, 1 to repair and 1 to return ship it.
At 241K it's still going strong!!!!!!
