Service Bulletins

Hi Jim,

Anything on 528's ? I have an 88 528e with 75k that's been acting
up lately.

1- When cold it coughs if you give it too much gas too quickly,
didn't do this when I bought it 10k miles ago. I've replaced
Plugs, pulled the air flow meter and idle valve out and cleaned
with carb cleaner, had the fuel injectors cleaned. It's a little
better but it still does it.

2- When accelerating, you can watch and feel the tach go up in
increments of about 200 rpm until you hit 2700-2800 rpm then
it's like the cam kicks in and it pulls and runs smooth.

3- Lately if you hit the brakes lightly from say 50 mph the
steering wheel shakes from side to side for about 2 seconds
then stops, even though the brakes are still on. I'm not
sure if this one might be related to my 3 attempts at quieting
the brake squeal I introduced by installing new front brake pads.
   A) spread pink goo on the backs of pads, worked for a week.
   B) sprayed goo on the back of pads, worked for a day.
   C) Spread anti-seize on the backs of pads and anywhere the metal
backing touches the calipers, Didn't work at all.
   D) I tourque the front lugs to 120 lb-ft, I believe this is what
      the book say's.

When I went in for a sticker the mechanic (3D automotive) say's
I need a guibo disc, front camber bushings, and rear knuckle
bushings. Bentley doesn't call out any of these things. Anybody
know what he's talking about ?
