I think BMW tried to improve torque and fuel economy rather than going for
outright power.  The new 2.8 is more fuel efficient than the 2.5 and is
lighter due to a new alloy block.  The picture on p52 of the October Roundel
is a pretty good indication as to what is coming.  Think of it as a makeover
in preparation for all the wonderful emissions regulations that are coming in
the latter half of the 90's.  And it still makes more power than the C280.
