I did my SO's 530i a couple of weeks ago. I bough a 1-man bleeder kit ($7
pep boyz) and a bottle of Castrol Dot 4 LMA. ($5) Plug the bleeder kit in,
loosen the screw, pump the brakes till you get clear brake fluid, and then
tighten the screw. Top off the fluid and move to the next wheel.
There has been a debate before over which order to do the wheels in. Books
will tell you to do the farthest wheel away from the M/C first, and work
your way in, but I've been told by another reputable source to do the
opposite, since moisture will more likely be near the master cylinder, so
you want to get it out, instead of just moving it farther out the system.
I did it with the engine running, because it made sense to me that with power
brakes, you need the pressure. Someone told me they didn't think that was
right, but didn't qualify it.
