Re: [bmw] Re: BMW E34 540i upgrade options

Heh heh,

M5 was going to be my answer too :) But then again what do I know. I have a three pointed star staring back at me as I drive. Personally I always find the small engined BMW's more fun to drive. By the time you do anything "spirited" in a 540 your already working on speeding and wreckless driving charges and running out of open road. :)

I gotta ask....where do you find a 540 lacking? Torque? Top end?
I've been in a couple and they were always stunning in terms of
power and handling (especially in light of their weight).

Where do your live that you can drive hard enough or fast enough
to think the 540 isn't enough?

At 83000 miles I think suspension rebuilds and mods would be a
better investment.

Not criticizing mind you....but if the 540 doesn't do it for
you....there is only one answer....M5

Subject: [bmw] BMW E34 540i upgrade options

What can or should I do to increase the performance of my 1994
540i with

83,000 miles? Engine wise I can only think of adding a chip
and perhaps a

bigger air intake tube. But which chip - Dinan or Jim C?

What else should I consider (within some reasonable price)?
