a more rigorous method is to use 'ventil sauber' by lubromoly (german oil/additive company)- you basically let the vacuum line suck this stuff up, it will kill the engine (or turn it off).. leave it sit for a few hours (/overnight) then start it up again.
Has anyone tried this and does it actually work? It seems to me whatever liquid that is sucked in simply ends up running down the closest intake manifold tube. Or is the stuff supposed to vaporize before it gets a chance to wash whatever other dirt/crud is along the path further downstream? Gas additives such as Techron would seem(??) to make more sense as it is sprayed into the fuel-air mix just in front of the intake valves.. aaron 88 528e 89K -- to be removed from bmw, see /bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe bmw" to majordomo@domain.elided
