Re: 99 M Roadster

My 99 M had a strange deep pitch vibration that occurred at irregular intervals as I backed off on the accelerator (54k miles). It seemed to be coming through the drive shaft so I looked things over and decided to replace a cracked guibo. No help. Then I get some advice to replace the tires and I was skeptical, but wanted to replace the tires anyway (went with Kumho from TireRack.com) and viola! problem gone. I also replace the air filter with a K&N and opened it up a little. Seat-of-the- pants-dyno says it helped. Good luck. It is a truly wonderful car. A real wild child.

On another note I am in the process of purchasing a nice 99 M roadster with
12k on the clock. Are there any reliability or problem areas that I should
address on this beast to increase reliability and enjoyment? BMP is pushing
this little aluminum thermostat housing to replace the plastic one for
example, sounds logical. Thoughts?

Thanks
