1988 M6 Oil Question

Hey folks, quick question for you.  I have recently acquired my dream for
several years, a 1988 M6.  What an awesome car.

Anyway, there was not much history passed on with the vehicle, and I am
wanting to perform an oil change and put in either Redline or Mobile One. 
Any comments on putting in synthetic oil into an engine with 125k on it?
