How about, if you're environmentally friendly, you take the bus, or at the
very least, drive a Honda Insight?

In all seriousness, discussing the environmental friendliness of certain
minor CAR features is nearly absurd.  Despite my love for my M3 , I will
freely admit that going to individual cars for every working human is the
least friendly thing we as a culture have ever done.

Buy an enviro-smart car. Carpool.  Bus.  Train. Telecommute.  All of these
things far outstrip the environmental benefits of turning off your running
lights.
