'97 540i OBC Has Missing Characters/Pizels

I just bought a '97 540i w/149k miles today and noticed the OBC display
including the odometer, trip odometer & outside temp all have missing pixels
that come and go. What's the fix for this? What options do I have to correct
it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
