Re: Speedometor for 85 528e
Lee,
I had the same problem with my 90' 535i. The cure to the problem was (gulp) a
new rear end. That's right, after my speedometer started acting up, my
differential went out. I have been told that metal shavings from the rear end can
cause the speed sender to start to cut out as it is in the rear end.
I also had a 86' 528e which started to do the same thing. The speedometer
would cut out then bounce around. After a few days it went back to normal and I
had no more problems. I drove the car for two more years without problems. You
might want to take the speed sender out of the differential and see if there
are any shavings there.
