[alfa] Re: Why a V6 into an Alfetta...

I'll avoid the power arguments going on, as I have no direct experience in how
much real power can come from either engine....

BUT...

I have thought about doing a V6 into an Alfetta. Why? Why not? Yes, I know
both the Milano and GTV6 exist, but if I recall correctly, but the GT and the
Sedan are lighter base vehicles. Not as stiff, yes, but lighter.

My original thought was to make a killer GRM challege sleeper. I could boost a
2.5 or a 3.0 well into 300hp, which would make the car darn quick in the 1/4
mile. And with the layout, the handling would still be outstanding.

There is no logic to the above... Heck, most of the challege cars have zero
logic behind them...

I think one can make an Alfetta GT somewhere around 2000lb, with a V6, and with
some careful bracing, it will be stiff as well. Not easy, no. Possible. And
fun.

OTOH, we've discussed the ultimate SCCA spec Street Mod car, and pretty much
came to the concusion that the better p/t would be a well matched 2.0l TS which
is boosted. Based on the more restrictive rules, it's easier to make a 2400lb
GT than GTV6.

I need something to stop my dreaming. Now that we are a week away from the
challenge, I have thought up the obsurd- a 3.0l with rear transaxle...
boosted... in a Giulietta Spider. Watching too many hot rod shows. Looking at
our crazy competiion too much (one guy put a Buick V8 into the passenger area
of a 510). Somebody stop me!

Must concentrate- Wife's Sprint, my Jr, and lastly, my Spider Veloce....
