If I found part of my timing chain in my oil pan while changing oil I wouldn't
drive it until I pull the cam cover and made damn sure the master link was
complete with lock. I bet if it let go completely in addition to the loud
noises it would make it would do a lot of damage. Maybe even tear up the
crankshaft.
