[alfa] GTV 1750 leather interior
Michael Findlay in New Zealand, who has a Eurospec 1971 1750 GT Veloce with a factory leather interior, brown, with a pattern of ventilation holes, asks how common this option is, and the years that it was offered?
I have a Eurospec 1973 2000 GT Veloce with black leather with ventilation holes. I don't know how common the option was, but I believe leather was offered (outside the United States) on all years of the 105/115 coupe bodies, with some variation in color choices in different years, although there are some ambiguities in some of the parts book listings. The 1600 Sprint GT (before it became the 'Veloce') was offered with grey, red, or blue cloth, black, red, or leather-color SKAI leatherette, and, on the De Luxe version, black, dark brown, beige, red, or grey leather. The 1600 Sprint GT Veloce dropped the De Luxe version and offered a somewhat reduced range of upholsteries two cloths, two leathers, and two vinyls. The 1750 seems to have been offered with a choice of two cloths, two leathers, and three plastics. The 2000 parts book is the most ambiguous, but there is no doubt in my mind that the ventilated leather in my '73 2000 is absolutely original.
The USA cars throughout this period were offered with a much more limited range of paint colors and upholstery materials and colors, keeping inventory choices and marketing costs to a minimum; for ARI the cosmetics were not what Alfa was about.
