    One more thing that Jeff Greenfield" <alfaguy@domain.elided  Forgot to
mention:  Support the car on jack stands at or in front of the forward end of
the rear trailing arms.  This will hold the car in the air while you let the
rear of the trailing arms down and the straps will hold the differential for
you.
    Also, if the trunion bushing (where the trunion and the differential
connect) is shot, this would be a good time to replace it.  With both trailing
arms down and the differential hanging on the straps, take the nut off and
push the differential sideways to get the trunion and the bushings apart.
