[alfa] brake fluid and rust

However DOT 5 brake fluid is not hydroscopic. It will not absorb water.
Any water that is in the system will cause problems but unlike normal
fluids it does not absorb it from the air.
Therefore if you ensure the system is fully cleaned out without a trace
of water it should be fine for far longer to use DOT 5 than DOT 3 / 4
fluid.
