I'll agree that having the tacho directly in front of the driver is great,
but having the speedo offset is simply an afterthought and could've been
handled a lot better.

I do appreciate that both RPM and speed needles sweep in unison in top gear.
Makes it easy to check your speed when the speedometer fails;  a trick which
wasn't possible on my 75TS.

Australian 116 GTVs have the speedo (in KPH) re-situated to the position in
front of the driver so there may be some scope here to swap some parts to
achieve the same on US cars.
