[alfa] F.I. Hoses/Help need for Injector seals
I don't have the BMW part number for the 8mm hose (look in the archives)
but a Spider takes 2 meters and I was charged around $10 per meter by
the local BMW dealer the 2 times I bought it. I haven't had a leak
with the hose when using the little cups that Alfa uses to cover the
hose ends. IIRC the webpage that advocates using 7.5mm hose is a Fiat
webpage so maybe there's a difference in the injector?
I just went through replacing the rubber fuel lines on my Spider and as
part of the task, I replaced the injector seals. I had to use 2 mail
order vendors for the smaller seals at the nozzle end (each vendor only
had 2) and they both sent the same part, but what they sent was a small
O-ring and the old seals were large square cut seals that completely
filled the port in the head that the injector fits into. OK so maybe
Alfa changed something since 1983 since the injectors had never been out
of the car? Nope, the smaller O-rings don't seal and I've got air leaks
at the injectors. Does anyone have an easily available substitute for
the lower (inner) injector seal, like maybe some American part or
something (sort of like using that Chevy Viton O-ring for the oil passes
roll pin seal)?
It's frustrating to get so close to being done and have something go
wrong . . . .
