The fusebox should not be melting. Check the connections and integrity of 
the wiring from the top of the fusebox all the way back to the pump and 
ground. It may be possible that the pump is going out, drawing a high 
current (like they will sometimes) and blow the fuse. If your supply pump is 
blowing fuses, it's probably "had it."

As for the other problems, check the grounds.  Remove the cables where they 
bolt to the chassis, clean and reattach. Don't forget the ground strap on 
the right rear of the engine. Most alfa weird electrics can be traced to 
faulty grounds.
