Always looking for another (bargain)....

Well, I've gone and done it now.

After years of touting closed cars, I bought a Spider I couldn't resist.
The price and condition was too good. It's a non-runner, but it looks like
a fuel pump. Other than that, it's in excellent shape. Southern car, no
rust or dents top or bottom. New top. Interior is a little rough. Looks
like it's been parked with the top down that has cracked the dash and seats.

It's an '86 Veloce with 115K miles. I'll title and plate it on Monday.
I'm going to tow it home and fix it here rather than risking a roadside fix.
I'm hoping it's just an electrical problem and not the pump. I didn't check
all the fuses and relays there. I didn't want to let on that the price was
too low. I just played it off as probably expensive and I'll check it out
when I get it home.

Cranks ok, spark no problem. No fuel pump hum when I opened the AFM flapper
door. Best case, a $.50 fuse, worst case a $100 pump. No nasty noises
when it turned over. According to the previous owner, it will need a
clutch but drives fine now, the engine is tired and a valve job and ring job
was recommended to them. This might be a case of a shop trying to make some
money from the unknowledgeable. I paid about half what I should have for
it. Sometimes luck does go my way.

I can't wait to get it home and running.
