RE: 164 heater core replacement tips

Provided that the AC system has an expensive charge of R12 or you
actually believe that R12 damages the ozone layer, have the AC
evacuated.

Remove the windshield wiper assembly. There is one ws assembly bolt that
is sort of hidden, it attaches to the firewall.

The false firewall between the AC will need to move next to the intake
plenum. Detach the two items that are fastened to the back of the intake
plenum. Namely, the idle actuator and the oil vapor separator. Loosen
the false firewall on each top corner.

Separately, remove the blower motor assembly and attached AC unit. On
each side of the blower assembly there is a clip on the bottom which
holds it in place. Be certain to not damage the flap lever on the
passenger side of the blower assembly, or the flaps. On each side of the
blower assembly there is a clip on the bottom which holds it in place.

The heater core now slides out freely. Replace heater core and
reassemble everything.

Regards,
Ken
