116 ignition

OK, everyone now knows how to remove the ignition switch by undoing the shear bolt, but my early Alfetta has no sign of one anywhere on the cast alloy column, nor a hole where such a device would be used .  Does anyone know of another method Alfa may have used to retain the ign switch barrel ?
