The term originated in England in the 60's. It referred to the bikes that
would race from the famous Ace Cafi , to a local bridge and back. The object
was that you dropped your coin in the jukebox, raced to a bridge on the A-406,
(London North Circular Road), then raced back before the record had finished.
Though closed in 1969, the Ace was rebuilt and re-opened in 2001. The bikes
used were stripped to their bare essentials.
