Vehicle Production Year

So I just sent away my VIN # to the lovely Elvira Ruocco at the Archivo 
Storico Alfa Romeo. She states:

According to our documentation files the chassis number 1759184 
originally
corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 1750 Berlina manufactured on the 6th August
1970 and sold on the same date to Alfa Romeo from Frankfurt, Germany.
The body colour is white with black interiors.

This of course is correct except for one detail. My car, on the title 
and for all practical purposes is listed as a 1971. I recall a thread 
about this very subject a year or so ago but forgot why a car made a 
year earlier will be listed at a year later.

Well...now my Berlina and I share the same birth year.
