164 LS radiator & 40-amp fuse

Before you replace your radiator fan check the 40-amp fuse located on 
the firewall directly behind the coolant reservoir.  Last week I was 
going up Mt. Tamalpais (Marin County CA) when I noticed that the temp 
gauge was soaring towards hitherto unknown regions.  Yikes!  I 
immediately cranked the heater full blast to prevent a boil-over.  By 
the time I got to Mill Valley the 164's operating temp had more or less 
stabilized.  When I checked, sure enough, the 40-amp fuse was cracked.  
I had a spare, of course, and 5 minutes later was back on the road and 
over the Golden Gate Bridge.
