Hello all-
I recently ran across a very interesting book for all you neo-luddite (sp?)
Spica lovers out there. It's a book printed shortly after WWII entitled
"Computing Mechanism and Linkages" by Antonin Svoboda, published McGraw-Hill,
1948 in cooperation with the National Rad Lab. The book describes the design
of mechanical computers. Wes Ingram describes the central mixture computing
mechanism as a "3-D cam", which is how it's described in the book. The
alternate name for a 3-D cam is a "camoid".
