Hi Chuck,

This also happened with my Recaros a few years back. 
I took the seat to a local upholstery shop and they
were able to replace the rubber sheet with a similar
structure, although not in rubber.  I forget exactly
how they did it now, but it worked fine once back in
the car.

I believe I tried Recaro, and at the time they didn't
sell just the rubber "suspension" but you might try
them again and see if they can help you.  Maybe I was
just too cheap at the time to go the proper route,
since I was a starving student at the time.
