Re: headlight cleaning (interior)

Dean, I'm pretty certain that a milky reflector is beyond help. The problem
will affect the output of your headlights.

Subject: headlight cleaning (interior)

Hi Group:

I always install Euro-code headlamps on my cars, and I finally got around
to putting a set of Bosch H4's on my recently-acquired '87 Spider. They
were an NOS set, and I'll bet they've been in their original boxes for
several years before I mounted them last weekend. On my '74 Spider, I've
got a set of Hella H4's, about three years old. My question is about
cleaning the inside of these headlamps. They've all got a very faint
white/gray film on both their reflectors and lenses. It likely doesn't
alter the lights' performance too much, but it does slightly detract from
their appearance. Anyone had this problem and done anything about it?

I found a Nissan 300ZX site that suggests using a drop of liquid
dishwashing detergent and water to clean the lights; just sloshing the
water around, not actual scrubbing. That's followed by rinsing several
times with pure water, and finally alcohol to dry them out. Any experience
with this, or perhaps any better suggestions?
