Listers,
       The afore mentioned article certainly
substantiates All of my feelings about front wheel
drive vs rear wheel drive Cars.
I once rented a Nissan Maxima to drive cross
country to a funeral....Turned out that the Maxima
nearly caused me to go to mine...It had 191 HP, and
Nasty torque steer..I called it unsafe at Any Speed on
Any curve..
My 1984 Saab 900 Turbo is another case in
point..Yes sports fans, I do have to stand on the
brakes to settle the Saab onto its' tires to get it to
turn when really moving on twisty WV. roads.
I once owned(1963 and 64) two DKW cars. These
were front wheel drive, 3 cylinder, two stroke 47 HP
German cars. The gift here was that the Lack of pure
HP and the light weight of the alloy 3 cylinder engine
caused the little "DEEK" to handle much better than
any car this side of a Mini, circa 1960 or so, with
FWD.
And, as the article stated, the world is comming
back to RWD. BRAVO!!
Will I buy a FWD car again? Not a new one.
Will I buy RWD? Of course, when my Saab dies(it has
285,000 miles now and runs as new).
