well, now i know i am not alone.
this happened to my GTV-6 many, many years ago.
occured shortly after having a local tire shop install fresh rubber.
i was doing "something" above 65mph at about midnight
when i got a sudden large shimmy in the steering. i braked
gently to the side of the freeway and found not 2, as you, but
4 of the 5 studs missing from the passenger side front wheel !
boy, was that close to disaster !
i bought new studs from the local *gasp* Chrysler dealer.
removed the hub from car, pounded out the broken studs
with a drift and a Big Freakin' Hammer, and installed the
new ones.
serves me right for not holding the tire shop's hands while
they reinstalled my wheels. they probably used an impact
driver set to a bazillion lb-ft. now, for the last 20 years since
then, i hand torque the wheels on all my vehicles myself.
i typically go about 40 lb-ft on auto wheels. i have heard some
"experts" say you only need around 25 lb-ft, and others say
70 lb-ft. use the manufacture's spec, and you will be fine.
