RE: V6 timing belt, the well worn subject...



Richard,

It is possible to change the cams without removing the belt. This is the
method used to adjust the intake valve clearance. Basically, you can un-bolt
the front plate and hub from the sprocket remove the cam and replace it in
reverse order remembering to replace the thin sealing o-ring.

As an aside, if I had to look up the last belt and water pump replacement
mileage I would definitely replace them.

i don't see how you can do the cams w/o taking the belt off and putting it
back on. at that point, the labor cost is dominant and you're crazy not to
do the whole shooting match all at once.
