Re: Boxer Engine
Ahhhhhhhhhhh........... and lest we forget, the best boxer of all, the
incredible BMW boxer twin motorcycle engine. It has withstood the test of
time and is beautifully simple in its engineering. Especially the old airhead
247 version.

A "boxer" engine refers to any horizontally-opposed engine layout. They are
also referred to as a "flat" engine (such a Porsche "flat six"), or a "180
degree" engine (such as Ferrari's "180 degree V12" - but this designation is
far less common).
Most commonly known applications of boxer engines include almost all
air-cooled Porsches (911, 356, etc), Ferrari's 512bbi and Testarossa,
Volkswagen's Beetle and related vehicles, and some Subarus, but there are
lots more, including Alfas.
