RE: alfa-digest V9 #335

Hi Zak

Both the 2.5 and 3.0l GTV6 cars were originally equipped with the twin-plate
clutch units. The manufacturer was Sachs. The manufacture of these units has
been discontinued since. You now need to use the single plate unit that was
made for the Alfa 75 3.0L....also used in the SZ and RZ cars. These units
use the same driven(friction) plate as the 2l Guiliettas but with a
different clutch cover, pressure plate and release bearing. New these units
cost the best part of R6000.00.
Sachs in Europe offers a refurbishment service though, although I am not
sure whether Sachs South Africa does the same.

The single-plate unit has a more positive feel to it and also grips better
on pull-off.
