164L error codes

Oddly, I changed my battery in the 164L and now I get an engine
error code 1244.  This is some sort of evaporator valve (I think it 
resides
under the plastic panel near the power steering fluid).

Could anybody shed any light on this error?  Issues or ways of 
correcting this?
I don't understand the connection with the battery change but 
regardless the engine light is on.
