That's one opinion of "worthwhile". All of the millions of L-Jet equipped
cars did just fine with a distributor ignition that was entirely separate
from the injection system, including most of the Alfas made during the
'80s. There are a number of aftermarket ignition solutions out there
if you're converting a points-fired car. There are a couple that are
programmable, too. There are also several projects under way to have
ignition work with the Megasquirt box, similar in spirit to the Megasquirt
project (i.e., fully open, freely available, etc).
