Turbomax, oil filters

Wow, haven't seen anything like this since that "Mini-Supercharger" you used to be able to get from JC Whitney. At least that had a moving part: it consisted of a smallish slab of metal with a hole in the center, in the middle of which was suspended a four-bladed fan thingy that was free to spin in the breeze. This was supposed to be inserted
between the carburetor and the intake manifold. Same lamebrained idea as this, that somehow introducing a spinning motion into the flow will unleash oodles of horsepower that those unsuspecting engineers, limited by their mind-dulling formal education, have overlooked.

About those V6 oil filters - the only way I've ever managed to remove even the itty bitty factory canisters on the Milano is by taking the air cleaner off first. In Nashville, there was a Valvoline oil-change shop close by whose people managed to get the filter off from underneath, but it was never easy. In fact, it got to be a running joke that
whenever they saw me pull up there'd be a mad scramble as everyone tried to go on lunch break at once.

Interesting, how different people define "accessible." Some folks on this list have no problem finagling the filter out of what I find to be an impossible maze, with no hole in it big enough for my hand alone, much less holding or turning a filter wrench. Similarly, I have the instructions for removing and replacing my cabin blower fan, and the fan
to go in there, but when I get down there to try it I'm baffled every time. "Look up there and you'll see..." the sheet tells me, and I look, and it's all just an undifferentiated wall of carpet with some wires and things in the way. I suppose this is God's way of telling me I was meant to be what you call a "checkbook mechanic." That's okay, but
I'd appreciate it if He'd done something about my bank account while He was at it...
