I wrote this several months ago. At the time, GM had not made clear its 
position on the put, and at that time  'Automotive News -Europe' did 
report that Fiat brass didn't want the deal either for a number of 
reasons. A recent AutoWeek has an interview with a designer at 
Ferrari/Maserati who says that adding Alfa to the two was still in the 
works and that Audi wants to invest up to 49% in the trio. Its all just 
rumors at this point, I think.
