Giulietta Cinquanti Anni
To All,
The following announcement is going out to the vintage motoring press
and other media. Mark your calendars.
Alfa Romeo Giulietta 50
Cinquanti Anni 1954 - 2004
San Francisco, Ca., February 1st, 2003
Classic Sports Racing Group and the world-famous California Mille
have announced a joint celebration of the 50th anniversary of the
Alfa Romeo Giulietta, to take place in the San Francisco Bay Area and
Northern California from April 24 to May 2, 2004. The Giulietta 50
celebration will feature a special one-time "Alfa Mille" tour to run
concurrent with the 2004 California Mille, and a CSRG race weekend
honoring vintage and historic racing Alfa Romeos.
The California Mille draws a number of fine vintage automobiles from
around the world every April for a four-day tour of Northern
California. CSRG, now in its 35th year, is the oldest vintage-racing
organization on the West Coast with an outstanding history of quality
events.
Alfa Romeo's Giulietta, the jewel of a car that delighted drivers and
gave the prestigious Milan auto-maker a new lease on life in the
post-war era, was introduced at the Turin Auto Show in April of 1954.
Car enthusiasts around the world revere its fine performance, style,
and racing potential to this day.
Martin Swig, founder of the California Mille, said, "The Giulietta
was the first affordable, sophisticated Italian car sold in America.
It introduced us to a whole new level of sportscar excellence. And we
in California purchased the lion's share of Spiders and Sprints, so
it make sense to begin the Giulietta's 50th anniversary celebration
here."
Carl Moore, President of CSRG, stated, "We invite vintage and
historic Alfa Romeo racers from all over the world to join us in the
CSRG tradition of racing and camaraderie with appreciation for the
cars and respect for each other. CSRG is pleased to join the
California Mille in offering a first-class celebration of the Alfa
Giulietta."
The classic Alfa Romeos taking part in this celebration range from
the 20's to the 80's and include some of the great racing Alfas of
legend - 6C 1500, 6C 1750, Monza, P3, 6C 3500, 8C 2900, GTA, and GTZ,
the ever popular street models like the Giulietta, 1900, Sprint
Speciale, Giulia, GTV, as well as a number of Alfa-powered specials
and sports racers.
The celebration will kickoff with an Alfa Concours by the Bay on
Sunday, April 25th, followed by the Alfa Mille and culminating with a
weekend of vintage racing and Alfa track tours at Thunderhill Park in
Willows, CA on April 30th through May 2nd.
Further information and applications for participation will be made
available as exact times and locations become finalized.
